7 Steps to Personal Success for Women Who Refuse to Be Failures

Without number five, the others will never work.

In my personal and professional experience, I have been taught a plethora of techniques that have contributed to my personal success and that of my coaching clients. Everyone is different, and what may work well for some may not work as well for others. Still, I have found the following tips to work for the vast majority of my clientele and for me. As I tell the women I work with, always remember, you don’t have to be perfect, but you do have to be present. Baby steps in the right direction are better than stagnation. Find what works for you, create your own systems, and trust them! Take what you need from the list below, and practice it daily.

Everything is connected. There is not one habit that doesn’t affect your body and mind daily. Your job is to make sure all your habits are good ones. This is where self-care comes in! Be sure to maintain a proper diet, drink at least two to four liters of water every day, and sleep about eight hours every night, or your emotions, focus, clarity, and productivity may falter. This lapse in efficiency will show up in all areas of your life, so never feel guilty for taking care of yourself and putting your oxygen mask on first.

There are many keys to personal success, but none as easily incorporated as daily improvement. When you continuously learn and invest in your personal development by taking courses, reading books, seeing a therapist, and watching documentaries, for instance, you become better at being human. Continuous personal improvement and growth come with sustained gains, which translates into more personal freedoms and increased self-sufficiency.

The way you present yourself to the world is a reflection of your state of mind, well-being, intellectual and comprehensive depth, and overall self-awareness. Your energy, work, and words make a difference. Nevermind the trend of misspelling everything and ditching punctuation for one-hundred-and-twenty character run-on sentences. Be sure to always present your very best self in everything from a tweet to a text, in emails, personal conversations, and interactions.

Take note of the activities and conversations that make you feel terrible inside. Make a list of the people, places, and things that make you feel icky. Look at that list. That is the list of things you need to remove from your life immediately! Anything that disrupts your peace is a misstep. Please don’t make the same ones over and over; it’ll only make you feel lousy over and over.

The only way to get through the last step is to invoke this step. Staying in your power starts with only doing what makes you feel good, and saying no to everything else. Set boundaries for yourself and others, and stick to them. Allowing people to do whatever they want with your time, space, and energy will only set you up for failure.

Anyone who has the power to make you feel angry or bitter owns you. If you want real peace, you have to let that shit go. What has happened has happened. The past has passed. Let go of the trauma and quit allowing it to drag you for days, weeks, months, or years. You’re not holding them captive, you know. Your only prisoner here is you.

There is someone you want to be, a place you want to live and work, or a business you want to run, no matter how small. There are places you want to go, things you want to see, and people you’d like to meet. For you to be, do, or have any of this, you’re going to have to work for it. Every day, you’ll need to do at least one thing to bring you closer to your goals. Do everything on purpose, with purpose, and you’ll get there.
