NFC for Conferences, Expos, Concerts, and more…

Walking around expos, shows, conferences and any other event you can think of usually involve some information collecting. These are generally in the form of business cards, brochures, and other ‘things’.
But in an age where people are no longer carrying wallets, let alone a bag to carry these ‘things’ in, why are events not following the same path.

Aside from convenience, following in support of environmental events such as the climate strike on the 20th of September, NFC tags are a reusable, durable, and versatile way to transfer information without the waste.

The most popular business card material, aside from paper, is now plastic. These may look aesthetically pleasing; however, the cost is not only financial but also environmental. For upwards of $80, an individual or business can get 50 single-use business cards that would need to be carried around and repurchase.

LinkedIn is now one of the biggest professional networking sites, with the ability to showcase your achievements, gain job offers, post job offers, and even grow your own network. Most professionals carry around business cards that have their contact details; name, number, email, LinkedIn profile. But in many cases there is the issue of running out, forgetting, and losing these cards. Recently I went to ‘Oz Comic-Con Sydney’, and everywhere you look are stalls and photographers carrying around businesses cards, but then when you looked down, there were just as many.

For an event like ‘Oz Comic-Con’ networking is essential, but when a patron is in their costume, in many cases they cannot hold business cards, their own, or others. But most cosplayers will find a way to keep their phone on them.

With NFC this could NEVER happen. This waste of paper, plastic, and money is never an issue with NFC tags. Where it be a spot on your table or wall of a stall, or it is a single tag on a key chain, you never have to worry about running out or reprinting. Load up your contact details, LinkedIn profile, website, or even photos and just tap, tap, tap away.

Any major event that involves communicating with other patrons will benefit from the environmental and social benefits of NFC.
